Willenhall playing in their stunning Navy kit went top of the table after this unconvincing 2~0 win over a much improved Coseley side now under the guidance of former Referee Brian Churm.

Cosely had the better of the opening stages as Willenhall could not find a rhythm and made the home side look far superior.

Willenhall created their first chance on 7 minutes when Abi Riley got on the end of Stacey Parkes free-kick, only to see her shot held by the keeper, with no one following up. Lesley White then unleashed a corner that hit the post after the ball deceived everybody.

Abi Riley turned and shot wide on 11 minutes, Lindsay Clews hit a right foot shot just wide of the post.

Willenhall had an escape in the 18th minute when Coseley shot over the bar when they were in a good position to score.

On 24 minutes Willenhall finally broke the deadlock when Rachel Knisis corner deceived everybody and nestled in the corner of the net with the keeper well beaten.

Abi Riley made it 2~0 on the half hour latching onto Jo Byrne’s through ball, slotting the ball home past the home keeper.

Coseley were given a lifeline on 34 minutes when the referee awarded a very dubious penalty against Sherrylee Boon, and justice was done when the penalty was fired more towards the corner flag, than the goal. They then hit the bar on 39 minutes when Willenhall failed to clear the ball.

H/T 0-2

After an half-time roasting by the coaching staff Willenhall started brightly and Lesley White shot wide on 46 minutes with her right foot.

On 48 minutes Tara Martin was booked after she gave the referee a mouthful after he had made some poor decisions and incensing the visiting contingent.

Rachel Knisis played Abi Riley through on 49 minutes, only to see Abi shoot over the bar.

Coseley applied some pressure on the visitors and it took a terrific save from Toni Parkes to deny a certain goal.

Willenhall had numerous chances in the latter stages as they began play a little better, but held on for a victory and kept a second successive clean sheet.
