Willenhall eased into the next round of the League Cup with a comprehensive 7~1 win over lowly Atherstone.
 

The Reds named an unchanged starting line-up, but welcomed back Lindsay Clews & Di Baker to the squad.

Atherstone started strongly & in the opening 20 seconds had a great chance to take the lead, but thankfully they shot wide when well placed to score.

Willenhall hit back & the ever-improving Tracey Culloty shot wide on 3 minutes. Willenhall took the lead on 6 minutes when Lesley White scored her first goal for the club & Rachel Kinsis almost made it 2~0 on 9 minutes, yet again shooting wide.

Rachel had another chance go begging on 14 minutes when the keeper managed to hold onto the ball & a minute later Stacey Parkes determination forced a corner, Stacey volleyed over the bar from Tracey Culloty's superb corner.

Abi Riley made it 2~0 on 19 minutes with a low finish & then Lauren Jones ran the whole length of the pitch before seeing her spectacular effort cannon back off the woodwork.

Jo Byrne rediscovered her goal scoring form when she made it 3~0  on 22 minutes with a 20 yard thunderbolt.

Leila Hopkins opened her Willenhall account on 24 minutes with a super finish & a minute later Abi Riley made it 5~0.

On 32 minutes Rachel Kinsis free-kick was tipped over for a corner by the Adders keeper.

Willenhall increased their lead even further on 33 minutes with Lesley White making it 6~0 with a fine finish & Leila Hopkins bea the offside trap 0n 38 minutes to pile on the misery for Atherstone by making it 7~0.

Willenhall started brightly in the second half & the lively Sheerylee Boon made a tremendous run, beating the Adders defence, only to see her shot tipped wide for a corner.

Lesley White & Rachel Kinsis both fired shots over the bar as the Reds continued their superior domination.

The Adders had a rare chance on 60 minutes but fired wide.

 

Willenhall made a double substitution on 61 minutes with Di Baker & Lindsay Clews replaceing Rachel Knisis & Lizzie Plant.

 

Sherrylee Boon's cross on 66 minutes just evaded Abi who made up a lot of ground to try to get to the ball.

 
The Adders scored consolation goal on 75 minutes when they broke down the left & clipped a ball over Farley's out-stretched hand.
